Interview with Dutch allround musician Darin Guermonprez aka Darin G by Dutch Jazz duo Rolf Delfos & Bart Wirtz. Darin G is an allround musician, producer, composer and creative inspirator.
As producer, initiator of hiphop parties and talent scout he is very well know in the Dutch hiphop scene and reggae scene. He is famous for his productions for DAC, De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, The Opposites, Pete Philly & Perquisite and Diggy Dex and for founding the hiphop formation DAC that made quite some name between 2000 and 2006.
The combination of being a producer, songwriter and keyboardist gives Darin G variety within the music industry. He studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (pop music piano) and combines this knowledge with street knowledge from the hiphopscene and his experience within pop music. Darin G knows how to bring different worlds together.
As composer Darin writes for the albums and singles of Diggy Dex. In 2016 Darin G received a Golden Single for his production of the song ‘Treur Niet’ (Ode to life) by Diggy Dex. Since 2017 he also writes compositions and makes productions for the famous series ‘Kinderen voor Kinderen’.
Darin G has toured around the world with artists and reggae bands such as Morgan Heritage, Kenyatta Hill, Mighty Diamonds, Ky Mani Marley, Culture, Eek-A-Mouse and Claire Angel (winner of Britains got Reggae). But also with Dutch artists such as Giovanca, Eva Simons, Wudstik, Mark Foggo, Typhoon and Shirma Rouse.
If that wasn’t enough Darin Guermonprez also teaches at the Dutch Pop Akademie in Utrecht.
